Brian Cameron's HOURGLASS: The 20 Year Celebration Concert

The Hourglass Band 20 years ago, some local teenagers in McDonough, Georgia had a band called “Hourglass” and they made an album. This year, those local boys are doing a local show to celebrate. Come to Southern Roots on October 5 and hear that album performed in its entirety! This is going to be the biggest night of local nostalgia the Square has ever seen!!!in 1995, there was a little coffee house on the square called “Seattle Style Expresso.” That was Genesis. The very first Hourglass show was in the building that is now Pasta Max. many were in attendance, including Collective Soul's Will Turpin, who says “I knew they had somethin’ special then!”Through the rest of the 90’s, Hourglass was recording, both their own original material penned by Brian Cameron, and as a studio group for other artists. They rehearsed on College Street in Mcdonough, often giving free concerts both on College Street and at the park in town.School dances in Henry County, private shows, and even performing in local McDonough bars and clubs, most notably a summer residency at Blue Sky Tavern, where the idea for the Southern Roots jam night was born. But in 1999 they recorded and released their first full length album. It featured songs like “Till Mornin’,” “I Will,” and “Shine On Me.” Songs that had filled the air of their hometown now filled the speakers of trucks drivin’ up and down 42, 155, 81, and 20.It’s been 20 years and it’s time for a celebration of the band and the music of this town and this county’s days before cell phones. You’re all invited

Doors open at 6 PM, Show starts at 9pm.
