Dekalb County Parks and Recreation, The Georgia Conservancy, Friends of Constitution Lakes Park and Joel Slaton are honored to host you for our first ever Halloween Hike! Join us for this unique and scary evening as we venture into the world of DeKalb County's Constitution Lakes along the Doll's Head Trail. We are calling this event: Doll's Head Danse Macabre

The Doll’s Head Danse Macabre is an evening event set at Dekalb County Parks' Constitution Lakes on Sunday, October 30th from 7-11pm. This party will celebrate the Doll’s Head Trail, founded and curated by Joel Slaton and Friends of Constitution Lakes. Upon arrival, Doll's Head guests will take a half mile stroll on the paved path from the parking lot to the North Boardwalk, where the festivities will begin with the Georgia Conservancy and Sweetwater beer! Mingle with fellow revelers and sign up for illuminated guided walking tours every half hour through the spooky Doll’s Head Trail, down to the South Boardwalk. Enjoy a drink on the Boardwalk and view the lanterns across the lake, then head back through the trail for a last review of the Doll’s Head sculptures. Rejoin your friends on the North Boardwalk and view some of the scarier sculptures on display this night only!

Participants are asked to bring a lantern/flashlight and come dressed in Halloween regalia to add to the festive mood of the party. Here are some appropriately creepy ideas:

"In southeast Atlanta lies a nature preserve unlike any other in Georgia. Doll’s Head Trail at Constitution Lakes Park is part wildlife refuge, part hiking trail, part snake pit and part art exhibit. The land has been transformed by both humans and the flooding South River into an ecological sanctuary smack in the middle of an industrial district.

It’s called Doll’s Head Trail because of the in situ artwork created with trash, many of it doll heads, that is left over after the South River floods. At the center of the park lies two small lakes that were formerly excavation pits created by the South River Brick Company digging out the soft red clay for bricks. It’s a must visit for Atlanta art lovers, urban explorers, birders, fishermen, tree huggers, history buffs and nature geeks."

• When: Sunday October 30, 2016, 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
• Where: Constitution Lakes Park
• Tour Details: Come dressed for an outdoor Halloween Event and haunted guided tours through the trails
• What to bring: 21+ ID, Guests are encouraged to come dressed in costume. Please bring appropriate walking shoes (closed-toed) and attire that can get dirty. All participants MUST have a flashlight or headlamp
• Parking: Details will be announced via email to registered guests. Must have a ticket to enter.
• Weather: RAIN or SHINE. If weather forces a cancellation, guests will be notified via email ahead of time.

About Joel Slaton:

At the Dolls Head Trail we will be joined by Joel Slaton, creator of the neo-folk artwork that gives the distinctive Dolls Head Trail its name. The South River regularly floods this area and the leftover debris supplies Slaton the materials to create insitu artwork. Visitors are encouraged to do the same.
