Amicalola Falls Day Hike

Description

Amicalola Falls Day Hike

Join us for a guided day hike at Amicalola Falls State Park, home to Georgia’s tallest waterfall at 729 feet. This hike explores a mix of paved paths, forested trails, and scenic overlooks that showcase the dramatic transition from the southern Appalachian Mountains into the Piedmont. While the hike is approachable for most fitness levels, it includes a notable stair section that adds a physical challenge.

Along the way, we’ll explore the ecological, geological, and cultural significance of Amicalola Falls, including how water has shaped this landscape over time and why the park remains one of Georgia’s most iconic protected places. Participants can expect a relaxed pace, and frequent stops for interpretation and photos.

Leave with a deeper appreciation for Georgia’s mountain landscapes, seasonal ecology, and the role state parks play in protecting access to these natural landmarks. While this hike is not designed for young children, responsible teens and adults of varying experience levels are welcome.
