World music concert featuring award winning artists Hans Utter, Utpola Borah, and the Srjan Dance Family.

Raag-Taal’s2016 concert will be held on Saturday, October 15^th at Dublin’s Abbey Theater, and will feature a roster of excellent musician and dancer, starting at 6:30pm. the SRJAN Dance Family, currently India’s primer Odissi Dance company, will present the traditional classical dance of Orissa, India . Founded by Kelucharan Mahopatra, this dance company is now led by his son, the award-winning dancer and teacher Ratikant Mohapatra. Dr. Hans Utter, an exponent of Imdad Khan sitar gharana (lineage), will present a North Indian classical sitar concert. Utter is the recipient of many national and international awards, and is currently working with the Vilayat Khan Foundation. Dr. Utpola Borah, an acclaimed North Indian vocal artist specializing in classical, folk, and popular music, will perform a variety of traditional, Sufi, and regional songs. Accomplished percussionists Abhinav Sharma (tabla and dholak), Shibi Likhite (harmonium/keyboard) and Turkish percussionist Hakan Kaya, will accompany them. Utter relates, “I am very pleased with the community support for Raag-Taal. We continue to expand our audience, and it is a real joy share this rich tradition with new audiences.”
