Description

Carmen by Georges Bizet

The gypsy Carmen is a free spirit who follows her whims and desires, intoxicating and entertaining those around her but often leaving chaos in her wake. So when the meek but handsome soldier Don José crosses Carmen’s path, it seems that he will eventually join the ranks of forlorn men whom Carmen has loved and then discarded. However, as José becomes obsessed with her, forsaking his fiancée and his career to pursue Carmen through the city of Seville and even treacherous mountain passes, the question emerges: “Who is more dangerous?” See this adaptation of Bizet's immortal opera at Clarkston's Cole Auditorium.

Featuring dancers from the Decatur School of Ballet/Decatur City Dance and chorus from the Atlanta Music Project, Clayton State University, and Perimeter College.

The performance is approximately two hours long, in four Acts, and features one intermission after Act II.

Arrive in time for the Pre-Opera Talk at 2:00 p.m., a free informative talk by opera connoisseur Rick Clement.
